You may not have heard this from a travel advisor before — I'd rather be direct with you now than waste your time, or mine. Here's who I work best with, and who would be better served elsewhere. And if you've already started planning, that's fine too — there's often still room to add value.
The Process
Things Worth Knowing
Yes — and there's often more room to add value than you'd expect. If you've booked hotels directly, I may be able to take over those reservations and add perks like complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, or early check-in through Fora's preferred partner program. I can also review your overall plan and suggest adjustments, fill in the pieces you haven't booked yet, or simply make sure everything connects the way it should. Let's talk about where you are and figure out what makes sense.
Sometimes — but there's an honest tradeoff worth understanding. When you book with points directly through an airline or hotel loyalty program, you're the guest of record, not a client I've placed. That means I'm not your travel advisor on that portion of the trip, which also means I can't add perks, make special requests on your behalf, or advocate for you if something goes wrong. That doesn't always mean don't use them — points can be a great tool and the savings are real. It just means those pieces of the trip operate differently, and you should know that going in.
It depends on the trip. The Visioning Call is always free. For complex, multi-destination itineraries, I charge a $100 Lookbook fee upfront — it covers the research and options I build before we agree on a direction, and it credits in full toward your planning fee if we move forward. For simpler trips or hotel-only bookings, I typically earn through supplier commission at no cost to you. Whatever applies to your trip, I'll tell you before any money changes hands — in writing.
Budget doesn't determine fit — the trip does. Some of the most meaningful travel I've helped plan wasn't the most expensive. If the occasion matters and you want it done right, let's talk. I'll tell you honestly whether I can add enough value to be worth your time and mine. The Visioning Call costs you nothing to find out.
For international or multi-city trips, 4–6 months is a good target. That's when the best hotel availability exists, when small-group tours still have space, and when airfare is usually at its most reasonable. If you're planning something bigger — a honeymoon, a milestone anniversary, a trip built around a specific event — even earlier gives you more options and more time to get it right. That said, if you're closer to your travel date than that, reach out anyway. Sometimes there's more flexibility than you'd expect.
Europe in depth is where I spend most of my time — the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, and beyond. But through Fora Travel I have supplier relationships and preferred partner access across just about every destination on the planet. If you're dreaming about somewhere specific, ask. The answer is probably yes.
It depends on the problem. A hotel issue at 3AM is best resolved by talking to the hotel directly — they have the authority and the staff to fix it on the spot. A disrupted flight is usually a two-part solution: get you where you need to be first, then pursue reimbursements or credits afterward — most of which gets sorted after you're home anyway. Either way, keep me in the loop. I may not be the fastest person to reach in the moment, but I'll make sure everything gets worked out and nothing falls through the cracks. Travel insurance is the layer that actually moves fast when things go seriously sideways — which is why I'll always recommend it.
